Long before he became the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, Archbishop Emeritus Joseph A. Fiorenza was deeply devoted to his family, his Texas upbringing and to his Sicilian roots. These photos offer a glimpse into Beaumont-born priest and spiritual leader to many.

In July 1982, Archbishop Fiorenza visited the Vatican with his brother Victor “Charlie” Charles Fiorenza and Catherine Fiorenza Russell, his niece, and met with Pope John Paul II in St. Peter’s Square.
